You need to have 20 posts before you can change it.

Click "my profile", then "edit options" - there is the button "change avatar" at the bottom of the page ;)

I want to put an avatar on, but it won't let me. Do I have to have 20 posts before I can have any sort of avatar? or is it 20 before I can have my own personalized avatar?

Out of curiosity, do you need to link to a personal webpage where the pic/avatar resides or is it uploaded to CgTalk?

Do you have to direct link from another website or will cgtalk store a pic? :)
this must have changed recently cause I just saw a guy with 11 posts that has an avatar... I'll just keep posting till I get to 20 ;)
