Hey all,

I am looking for other ways to point bake a weighted characters anim from maya>xsi>maya.

I currently Use Point Oven in both apps. However, PO has not been workign solid. many times I will bring in an MDD from Maya to xsi and the animation will be really wacky, Eg. Bring in the mdd and the mesh kinda goes where is supposed to but is stretched and squashed all over the place, with Arms that are 10 meters long and a head thats the size of a golf ball.

While i try to decern what the issue is with POven, I am looking for other options.

thanks for any suggestions or links

Hey,
sorry, i am just subscribing to the thread not really giving any solution,
but it looks loke collada feature list is interesting. I'd like to learn from others experience.
http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/Collada
And now it's part of XSI 5.11

Haven't used it yet, but Alexandre Jean Claude from SI put a newer version of the Collada I/O in the converter section at http://www.softimage.com/downloads/default.aspx

Problem solved for now, thanks for everyones help though

I discovered yesterday that the problem was the MDD's were baked at negative frames ie. start frame was -100

after I changed it to export at frame 1 everything worked in XSI, I am currently trying to dig up why this is happening because for 2 weeks I was using mdds with -100 frame start and only now they stopped working. Stange, but for now its working.

incase your wondering the -100 start frame is for Cloth sim to settle for anim.
