View Full Version : multiple characters causing problems w/rigs
taxibickle 09-02-2006, 05:43 PM I have a scene I just created that has multiple characters and the rigs of the single characters got all jacked up.
I had everything working great with my single rigs. Spherize effects, bone effects, super blender and the likes. I also have all of the expressions you would normally use.
Everything has a unique name to each character.
Each rig worked great on its own.
Then I put them all in one scene and the spherize quit working and the hand IK, key faders and wrist expressions quit working as they should and super blender even caused Messiah to crash on one of the characters.
Is there something I should be looking for?

there are many others here that are better experienced to help you with your issue, however, i was wondering if all the objects in both rigs have unique names or is it possible that objects in one rig have the same names as objects in the other rig. i can see this causing problems...
good luck

Have you checked the naming in the setup and expressions panel?

Until figured out, how about adding the characters one at a time, and trying the scene at each juncture. Find the offending setup. Then, as a test, load starting with a different character, and then load the problem setup, and see if its a NUMBER issue, or if that setup truly is offending.
If that works, check the expressions and names in the two setups, just to be sure.
And, if this is a "real" project, and you're under the gun, I would try and put just a couple characters that truly have to interact as one scene and animate, then comp with the others.
Best,
Rick

thanks. fortunately I have a little time on this one. I have some ideas as well that I will test out as soon as I get back to work.

I figured out what was causing the problem with the spherize effect although I am a little confused on what to do about it.
I was moving my master null in setup mode to get the characters into position.
You can't move the master null in animate mode either or the spherize effects act like they are in world position and move through the characters head.
The expressions were a user error. Only two of them were messed up and I fixed them.
