i am using 3ds max 4 and i lost my select and move X,Y,Z handle. also my rotate handle. im not talking about in the toolbar at the top im talking about if you select an object, click select and move, put the mouse on the object in a view you get a handle with X,Y,Z on it and thats what im missing. did i turn something off cause i did one thing, ate some lunch, came back and no handle :hmm:

i have no idea.

Wrong forum dude, you should post in the 3ds Max forum, and you should get a good answer.
I'm kinda sure this topic will be moved in any sec thou.

About the questio, I dunno, not using Max, sorry.

Just remember, try to post the right stuff in the right forum, and it will be easier for everyone ;)

theres an option to turn on transform handles in preferences.
( and i think theres a hotkey for it too. try T. ( not sure tho )

the standard hotkey for hiding the transform gizmo is one of the following

- x [most likely]
- ctrl-x [probably xpert mode toggle]
- alt-x [damned if i know]

one of them should work. be sure to do the ones that don't work twice . . . cause i'm pretty sure they toggle something else.

it's either

'transform gizmo toggle'

or

'show transform gizmo'

both can be found in customize ui. check both for their corresponding hotkeys.

If all of the above didn't work, just try throwing away your max.ini file in your max-root. Max will make a new ini file when you start up max.

i just had this problem in Max 5 and 'x' did in fact turn the gizmo back on. this is just fyi.
