Anyone experienced thick black spots in a caustic radiosity render in R8?
is this a bug in R8?
caustics set to 40, one bounce

I have no idea how and where they come from:shrug: but I would use PS to paint in the spots as good as you can. Because the rest is perfect and you don't have to rerender.

agreed just fix it in post, easy to fix a single block of black ppixels in a few frames rather than rerender whole thing.
No I haven't seen those kinds of artifacts before, I'm am making sure someone from maxon sees this one. Quite odd. they are soo sharp hmm.

Yes, I am mostly cuorious (sp?) how and why it happens...
Maybe sun spots? ;-)

have you send the scene and a description of the problem to the Maxon support?
If not please do so.
I tried to download the scene file but it seems to be corrupted.

Ok, the file is compressed now, and is a sit file,
it should be better to transfer...
