View Full Version : Face Portait
Hamzter 09-02-2006, 02:32 AM Hi there,
I got round to digging up the Wacom Graphire that i bought a year ago (messed around with it for about a day then chucked it in a cupboard), and this is my first full drawing, after doing a few tutorials to get me used to the thing. The reference is Tara Reid, it's very close to the original pic so I get no points for originality :P Taken about 2 hours so far...

Comments and crits welcome, also has anyone got any tips on how to do hair, I've not a clue how to start!

Linda Bergkvist has some great tutorial's on her site, http://www.furiae.com/ , and around these forums.
You could also spend the rest of eternity picking up stuff from the General Techniques (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=53) subforum
Looks good so far. The shading is nice and delicate. The ears seem a little high but I guess she's looking down. Seeing the original pic would help some.

This is a great start. You might want to work on the contrast, make you dark areas darker. Over all image is solid! I would like to see an update.

Well I haven't touched this pic since today, since I kinda needed to learn some colouring skills before i could continue. After messing about with colours for a little bit, I got a half decent pallette going and started on the face...

I definitely need to add some more contrast in there, I find myself afraid to put in any extreme brightness or darkness. I think the colours are a bit too saturated too, but i really can't be sure, i've never done any painting prior to 2 weeks ago :)

I like the sketch a lot! Looking forward to see more progress :)

The face looks nice so far, maybe if you give her hair some color too it will help frame the face better so you can judge the colour better with the contrast of them together.

Had a go at doing some hair, thought it turned out quite well altho could use more contrast. The lips are bugging me at the moment, can't get the right colour though so I've just left it for now. What ya think?
