Nice, what's the project?

Her backlight and the general color temparature work very well.

Thanks.

Well, the source image is from Domination project (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=312669). (Collaborative)

But the shot in the movie should look different.
It was just looking like good source, so I tried some city...

Hey Kutkin,
Your matte looks really good. I am not an expert or anything but the person looks slightly cut out mostly on the left side near her head.....Maybe you can blur the edges slightly or something....Also, the shadow on the right hand side is a little funky....Is that what you were going for or maybe it is casting that shadow from the item she is holding?

very beliavable the mood is nice and photorealistic just the perspective in some of the honk kong buildings are wrong and one of the buildings is cut in a half, nice work

Thanks!
I tried to fix the issues you were talking about. I tried to make the city layout better to read.

It helps me very much, so next time I'll do better.

There is still considerable amount of chaos and perspective issues...

Mistakes teach...;-)

If you had any tips on doing night cityscapes, I'd be very glad to hear them.

Hi and thanks,
well, I don't know but suppose because they didn't have a big one:D

It would be certainly better with bigger...

But it's mainly compositor's problem, not matte painter's...

Hi Pavel, nice work!! One thing, the first high building on the right has a wrong or confusing perspective.

Anyway, cool job again:thumbsup:

Nice work Pavel. Since you have overexposed bright sections of building lights and windows, I would suggest that the sky not appear so dark. In the far sections of sky it looks like there are darker values than those in your distant buildings with haze. Usually the sky in night shots doesn't get as dark as the landscape / hardscape. Also, maybe a few warmer windows here and there would help. Right now the overall shot feels a bit monochromatic.

matrixreality: I don't know who shot this blue-screen setup, however you often only use the amount of blue-screen necesary to extract the moving characters or objects. In this case, the person is the only moving object, you can avoid rotoscoping her by using the blue screen. Also, with a smaller blue-screen, there is less blue bounce-light coming from it - therefore less blue light contaminating the shot. Lastly, the metal box on the right side of the frame is reflective, notice that there isn't any blue screen reflected in it, therefore using the box is almost effortless.

Thanks, Cris
Thanks for the suggestions. You're right, there should be a lot of light polution above the city...

You're right about the shot being monochromatic.
It was my intention in this image to feel monochromatic and cold. But as I watch it now, it would be maybe better to have it a little bit warmer...

Thanks again:)

cheers
