hi all,

i'm doing animations for games. my biped characters have bones attached. but some of the bones had been scaled. some of them had negative 100% scaling because of mirror. i've physiqued and animated my characters already. everything seems fine in max4. but programmer ask me to reset all bones to 100% scaling XYZ in order to load them in the game engine. and i don't know how to do that.

can anyone please enlight me on how to do that? i've tried creating new 100% scaling bones and re-attach to the biped and physique the mesh. but once i load in the animation, the scaling of the new bones jump back to the old bones' scaling.

please help or i have to re-animate all the bones :<

thanks

Try to set it in XForm

modify menu > Xform

utility > Reset Xfrom > Reset Selected.

What happens: All the object you had scaled or rotated, will be set to 100% or 0,0,0. But will have the last setting in the envirenment. If the object is 50% scaled the 50% will be 100%. So you will see no differents but the underlying information is changed.

I Hope this will work, and if it is, what you wanted.

How about copy keys & tracks! I don't think Biped (or you) will like having an Xform reset in the pipe (I could bwong). One of CS's features is that you can transpose data across figures. Create a scene with the new non-scaled bone setup, and the old rig. Select links and copy pose keys and tracks to the new biped as needed.

Loading the BIP keyframe data before that bone attach, and then adding the bone may also work.

Let us know what you work out.

hi all,

thanx 4 the replys. reset x form won't work since the bones and the mesh attached will go crazy . i had transfer all the old data to the new biped except the bones animation. if i do import animation 4 the bones it won't work, the scalling will jump back to the old one(much smaller). if i copy the bones' controller one by one then it works. but since some of my bones have negative scalling due to mirror, i have to go in and fix those data. it's a lot of work but it beats re-animate them all.

thanx for the suggestions guys. u save my day

bye
