Its kinda dark... but most sewers probably are : D! It also reminds me of a map called seige in counter strike

Way too clean, I dont know where you live, haha. In all honestly it needs some more dirty texturing along the sides of the walls, the uglier the better. some steam would be nice

That sewer is cleaner than my living room. You need to texture and light it imho.

I have some good suggestions to help improve this scene.

1. Sewers are WAY too clean, need to dirty everything up/add debris, and the water is too blue.
2. Water scale is too small, the ripples are tiny and too close together
3. That ambient light needs to be toned way down, should not be able to see that far back in a dark sewer, and it takes away from realsim
4. Overall lighting could use improvement, i.e. maybe enlarge the spot light's area or add some glow around rim of manhole
5. What is the focus in this scene? I think you need to have something placed where the spot light is, or atleast make something stand out more in the scene, as of now, only the light stands out, but it's just focused on the blank wall and floor.
6. Scene seems a bit bare, perhaps you can add some more objects, or at least some interesting textures for the walls and floors. A wall with Graffitti or moss and slime would be great.

I think you can make a great scene with what you have, just needs some more detail and focus.

Yes, it is more like Militia, God I loved that map, minus the retards that spawn camped as CT's.

I played the hell out of CS, I am quite good. Ohhhh the memories.

I think it would be very nice if you add Caustic lights as well. :)

I rather like it.

Maybe a rat or something would be good in that light in the corner.

Hey thanks everybody for the replies, and I agree with most of you, and I will try out the suggestions. Hows this for a wall texture? (very very scaled down)

also.. i was thinking about putting something down there that represents something most of us, or us as a society, hide.

-Braam: ..as for the caustics, what were you looking for? Refracted light from the water? Do you think that you would see much caustics in a real world situation like this?

yes yes diffently dirty it up some more. lighting needs lots of work. I think fer sure that there would be caustic reflections of the water etc. is there going to be anything in the sewer? some point of interest other wise it seems a little stale

I was about ready to throw this scene away, but I am very happy with the comments, and it has brought back my interest. I did this scene in what little spare time i had in two days. I got the idea from a scribble I did in my notebook during a class. I agree the lighting needs work, right now its just a final gathering test really. So, I dont know if I will add another light source, or just fine tune what i have ( it looks much more realistic when I turn down the reflected light from my sky, but it becomes almost 100% dark except for where the light is streaming through the manhole. I have two ideas for what I will be putting in the sewer in that spot light, either a dirty teddy bear or a globe with a very realistic earth shader. Im leaning towards the earth-globe. Also, I am going to put in a volume that will be illuminated by the sunlight coming down, basically just the steam in the air forming an illuminated tube. I will also add a subtle caustic effect. And of course, everything is getting the once over with dirt. :wavey: Thanks everyone. Stay tuned, and tell me what you think.

This scene looks very promising! Right now it is a little too sterile, dirty those walls, add some new light sources, and maybe a little rat or two and you could have a very atmospheric scene!! Keep up the good work!!

I dont know if this nailed all of the things I wanted to add, but I like where its at.

much better, make it brighter, maybe move this thread to WiP while youre at it but no big deal, you might get more crits, but it looks like you are getting lots anyways.

nice work, i like the texturing, just add a really low level omni light.

Looking MUCH better!! I agree about the lights, add a weak omni to brighten things up, and give a very weak bouce off the water and the wall. A really good scene altogether!

Thanks to both of you for those last comments. I will try the low level omni on the scene. I originally had an omni light placed under the manhole with a linear fall off, but I didnt like how it looked with the final gathering, but now that I have tweaked the scene to my liking, it might add enough subtle light so that everyone can make out the details that are right now not visible.

I appreciate the support, look for my next project in the wip section. :airguitar
