so my latest project
my limits will be:
2500 tris for base and 2000 for trailer with wood
and about texture: 2x1024x1024 + 1x256x256

i did a progress, 3973 faces
and i think, that base of truck is done, now 2 versions of trailer needs to be done

its looking really good though the only thing that bothers me are the really thin tris you have running from the front wheel well to the driver side door. I know running a ring over the hood would up your face count, but depending on which engine you are using may light much better. Just a thought. Otherwise, the rest of the model is looking quite nice. Can't wait to see the trailer as well!

Hi, very nice truck you got here.

But you are almost 1500 tri's over your limmit, you could make the wheels and the wheel cases less tri's as well as the other round objects you got there. Also the round thing under the truck could be reduced as it is not very vissible.

It doesn't matter mutch to me, but you have set yourself a goal and went way over that. You can't get away with that if your making or modding a game.

i am at 5066 triangles, so 566 over my limit
i dont know, if i will optimize it, or let it be as it is now

madmenno: well, i didnt know at start, that there will be so many round things:)
gamedev: thanks, well, your polyring, that will cross over hood will increase polycount, but it will also add better reflections in game

while there will be a lot of chrome parts, do someone know, how can i make chrome on my texture?
bake it or make all chromic parts just in grey color and then in engine make for this parts chromic material?

as for the chrome, use a cubemap - ATI cubemapgen is a good tool for this

so, truck texture and wheels textures are now done
i have also made opacity and spec. textures for truck and soon i will post more spectacular renders

its looking good though way too clean. Are you planning on doing a dirt pass? Also, the angles that you are showing are kinda strange - like a 'user' view in 3dsmax. Just a thought. Keep it coming.
