Title: Spilled Columns
Name: Matt Raithel
Country: USA
Software: Lightwave 3D, Photoshop
I am continuing to study levels of exposure and contrast within my work. I tend to under-expose my scenes with little amounts of contrast so I have tried to push myself in those areas with this image. The main pillar model was something I started on for a challenge at the 3dfightclub and I have since brought it out to generate a complete scene. I used Lightwave for the modeling and rendering and photoshop for some color correction.
All critiques are welcome - thanks in advance.

Nice image. The texturing is spot on :) I would only make a couple of minor crits...
1. I would say that the highlights are a little too bright, though if this were somewhere very sunny then... The contrast appears fine mind you.
2. the column that is lying on the floor under all the other columns, with its bright end just to the left of centre, about 2/3 of the way down the pic doesn't look like its side is sitting on the floor. It looks like it is positioned correctly, just lacking something.... maybe a shadow underneath the sides? Don't know, can't put my finger on it (well I could but I'd get fingerprints on my screen :) )
Nice depth of field too, by the way.
All in all I like this lots and as an experiment in contrast and brightness you must be pleased with the results.
Regards
Miles

Thanks alot for the reply. I believe I know which column you are describing - and I will make some adjustments to the image
Is this the aright area?

Addition to the above crit I don't agree with bright parts of the scene where sun fall on. It is good adjusted for me. But I have some problems with depth of field. Because some parts of the columns has blur but some parts of them are crystal clear. Maybe the bump map is fooling me but the column where on very center of the scene has the thing I'm mentioning. İts northern part is blured but bottom of it is clear. Also the one above of the leftmost brown column has this.
Shadows are good but I suggest more sampled shadows (area shadows maybe) because the bottom right green column's shadows have pixels on it.
Other then materials and lighting is good adjusted. And the tree that not in the screen is succesfully saying "I'm here".
Congrats, you're doing fine, friend.
