Hey, I posted this as XSI base and I am working this scene in my short film. I am wondering if anyone else has ran into this weird rendering artefact when you use D2S Light Shader and GI.

here are my settings in the GI

D2S Point Light
Raytraced Shadow
GI: Photon 20,000 (for tests) Energy: 30,000

Now this is a kind of annoying quirk and I am wondering if there is a way around this nasty error so that I can use the option of GI. This never appears when I use FG. And sorry for the low quality of the JPEG...

what happen when you use classic light ? do you get the thing with no gi ?
Try to send a bit more photon.

I never get this kind of strippe when using d2s light. ( and I am using them a lot ).
Just for info d2s light is a combinaison of physical light and mib_cie_d shder from MI

Hey saturn,

when I use a classic XSI light shader, I get no such artefact with and without GI. It looks normal. With the d2s light, I get no artefact when I use FG but it is really nasty with the GI....i used 30,000 for energy and 20,000 photons. I will post another render with this setting and see if i get any artefact.

Hey saturn...

This is a weird phenomenon but I don't get any of those nasty diffuse stripes when I use GI with a XSI light. Perhaps I can send you my scene so that you can take a look at it. It is a little bit on the big side (Almost 10 MB) and this is kind of frustrating.

Could I also just use a normal XSI light with LUme Illumination and just plug a mib_cie_d into the light shader's color input?
