I haven 't checked your file or anything.
What problems are you having? any screenshotsyou can give us?

But if you are going for a very smooth character, 2 levels up, you can bind the lowpoly version and use it as a Wrap deformer for the high poly object.
I don't think there is any way to smooth after the binding process. Like you said, the model starts to freak out.

Smooth after bind, and after UV layout. I downloaded your scene, deleted the polysmooth7 and then smoothed it and it worked fine.

Hi 3DBeast

Reorder your post-skinning attributes by right-clicking on your
ostrich skin (surface input operations):

Transform Geometry
Poly Smooth Face
BlendShape(blendShape1)
SkinCluster(skinCluster1)
Tweak(Tweak2)

Drag 'SkinCuster' down below 'BlendShape'
skin should pop back into place when animated......
Might want to check the pivots on your pole vectors
though.....!

Good Luck!
