Hello:

New to Messiah and have a simple question. How does one get the handle of an Armature to stop snapping to the item it's controlling's origin? Tried to follow the tute on the pmG website to set up a simple amature to control the camera and as soon as I select camera for the controller list it jumps to the camera's origin. Please help!

you are never selecting an armature. you are selecting the item it is attached to. think of an armature as a pointer or an extended tab you grab to manipulate the item itself.

There is an additional point here though. I have in the past wanted exactly that - an armature that controls something BUT it is set to a screen position and as far as I can remember, you can't do that, though a greyed out setting implies you might at saome stage.

I don't think I'm explaining correctly. In the tutorial his icon stay in the upper right hand corner of the screen as he manipulates the camera. My icon jumps to the the camera's orgin point in the manipulator. Am I hearing you can't actually do what is shown in the video. I'm probably just thick.

Have you choose Screen Position for the handle?

yep, and it doesn't matter, still snaps to origin. The only way I can put it where I want is to use the offset. Than I can't use the realtime edit to drag but have to use the cooridinate widget. I followed the 2nd armature tute exactly and my handle won't stay where his does. My settings are the same as on the video's.

And you are using Realtime Draw??
(Also if you want to move it after you have draw it, you shall check Realtime Modify.)

I had exactly the same problem & couldn't work out what I was doing wrong. I wanted to setup something like the skeleton in the video so that I could select the skull & move the head, select the hips & move the hips etc.....I could do it but rather than have the skeleton at the side of the screen like the video each armature handle snapped to the item it was controlling.
