I am trying to read in the binary cache data stored in the mcfp cache file, can someone please shed some light on how the data is structured? There is a small hint of that in the docs, but it doesnt make any sense to me.
Thanks

are you using API or MEL ... Also is the cache a single file or is it segmented?

so maya's fluid format the same as maya's particle pdc cache format?
azshall, i wrote a simple exporter for now, guess I must stick to it if I dont get to understand how this cache format works...

Yeah, writing custom and a more simple exporter is a good thing to do as the pdc format is complicated and contains lots of useless data what is not needed with external applications (might vary of course what you are doing)

Im thinking about doing the same, writing a simple exporter for volume renderer of mine.

what i frankly do not understand is why doesnt alias simply extend the api to accomodate reading of these cache formats.
They have a mayaIO function sets for reading and writing maya files, why not the functionality of reading caches? Their fluidshape nodes already have the functionality, simply allow plugin dev people to get access to them...
I would have to cache these fluids... make a new cache of that cache to be able to use for my needs, which is very wasteful

Man i was trying to run this program, and i get an error, saying The application has failed to start because configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling this program may fix this problem.
I tryed to recompile with Visual Studio, no luck.
I am on windowXP.
