Not really a metal shader, this shader has been with c4d from the start I think. It lives in the 'surface' menu. Its a very simple shader with an iteration/size control and a ramp slider.
Obviously you can put into layers with other things.
This fractal noise is apparently a true procedural shader, nice and organic and you get really good bumps, unlike the usual stuff from sla. Bumps in sla often suffer from a 'double image' type effect and for me don't scale up very well.
