hiyah loggie,
Thats a fantastic resource for the community. Thanks for the time and effort you've put into it. Very nice to see your workflow in operation, even nicer to see its similar to my own way of working, even using blue for highlighting!!
Now any chance of popping an arm and hand on there for the next timelapse.
Thanks again

Yeah!! :bounce:
Or even just an arm.
Connecting the chest/shoulder/arm area is one of the toughest areas for me. This was a big help!!! Seeing how you pull the arm out from there would be great... If/when you get the chance.
Thanks for your time/effort Loggie!!!
This was a real treat :applause:

just got finished watching the vid

logan I have a question sorta
the other night we were talking about the looped muscle method from spiraloid but didnt see it in this vid
is it something you do later or are we talking about something different
I recently ompiled what I was talking about maybe you ould take a quik look and let me know if this is what you were tlking about too
http://www.geocities.com/wasamonkey/edge_loops.html
if you werent around during the first character challenge at spiraloid or havent gone back and read the posts you might want to read this as well
back then I didnt even know what edgeloops were and was starting to think it was just a bunh of hype
if you go to read more of the nugets in the fantasy charater challenge see if you an figure out my old nick just for fun

Hey thanks a lot fot the kind words folks...
its very difficult to model with a capture software for 2 reasons:
1 - it makes it all goes sloooowww
2 - i was really nervous all the time lol
Im gonna mage the arm in it and release part 2 as soon as i have the time ok?
wasamonkey, loops are not just a way to mimic muscle, bones, fat flowing. it is also vital for the sillhouette and the final shape of each section of ur model. it also helps a lot to keep detail located in one point and helps a lot in the modeling process. u can notice defined shapes for all muscles in the video and the definition is set by edge loops.
tsuru, 3dluvr doesnt support any DL accelerators maybe thats the problem.
anyways, thank u guys and i hope it was useful...
cheers

As for your computer slowing down, I think you don't need to capture it as a realtime movie. It's nice, to see every tiny detail of movement, but I think if you made it more "time lapse" instead of recording every frame you'd get better performance, smaller movies, and we'd all get to watch you work more!
Thanks for taking the time to share this with us. It's awesome to watch talented folks work.

TimeLapse tricks ...
Use HyperCam. F2 starts and stops capture. Capture a string of operations on model. F2 to start and stop. Don't wory about file names.
If you get nervous, hit f2 to stop. Think for a few minutes about what you want to do. Model for 5 minutes until you path is clear then hit f2 to record again. HyperCam rocks.
Model in 800x600 mode, 3fps. Any decent computer can handle that these days. If not, then try 16 bit or 8 bit color and a suitable codec.
Use Virtual dub to crop out unneeded parts of the video.

Thanks Logan for the great tutorial, but I can't seem to download it. I click save as.. and it comes up as an HTML File. I think 3dluvr has something to do with it.
Is there anway I can get around that? or Is anyone willing to upload it to another site where others can download it?
Thank ya

Hey Logan,
Thanks a lot! it worked, my problem was that I have a pop up blocker and i had to press a special hot key to let pop up windows come up. I'm downloading right now. I'll post again after I watch the video to give you some feedback
Thanks again! :_:thumbsup:

Hrmppphhh... I think my post here got deleted. Server crash?
I can't figure out how to get that spiffy translucent blue "influence sphere" which I am assuming is part of the magnet.... nor can I figure out how to get magnet to work in tweak mode. Any help appreciated ...
I really need to read the manual more thoroughly, I know, I know. :wip:

" I can't figure out how to get that spiffy translucent blue "influence sphere" which I am assuming is part of the magnet.... nor can I figure out how to get magnet to work in tweak mode. "
the blue influence sphere is only there when using magnet in tweak mode, not when using magnet with other commands (just in case..)
when you're in tweak mode, start the magnet by pressing 1 (not on numeric keypad) on the keyboard; if you're on a french keyboard, this is shift+&. (i just hate to have to press shift..)
as soon as you'll start dragging a vertex, the blue sphere will appear..
other magnets commands on the right of the status line .

Nice post Log ;) (that's a long o)
If your using camtasia... try capturing at 5 frames a sec and playback at 5 a sec if you want realtime... or if you want to try a timelapse try 2-3 frames a sec and playback at 10 - 15.
