Okay, so I'm trying to improve my 3D skills. I go to RIT for new media design, so I don't have a ton of experience with 3D, but I've taken a couple of classes. I might go on to grad school and concentrate in it - I'd very much like to get better. Anyway, I'm making myself in 3D for a motion graphics piece. Here's what I have so far:

Obviously the ear is messed up, and I haven't worked on the hair much. I'm using Cinema 4D, and the Hair plugin is only available to me at the lab at school...once I get back to school, I plan on fixing that up. Does anyone else out there use Cinema 4D? I've noticed that most people don't. Am I at a great disadvantage because of this?

Anyway, any comments are very welcome. I'd like to improve the overall texture and realism of the skin, and the lips don't look as good as I'd like them to. Let me know what you think! Thanks.

we can't give any crits without references, as it is now some of the topology looks funny...

However you might just ahve a funny face ;-)

References? I'm new here, so I don't know exactly what you mean by that.

And yeah, that's pretty much how I look, so...thanks?

I did smooth some things out since last time.

Here's an update on my face. There's definitely still some work to be done. I want to challenge myself and get this as close to being photorealistic as possible. I think I want to focus on the skin texture...it's still not quite where I want it to be. I'm still working on the lips, so that texture is missing for the time being.

When I'm totally done, I want to include it in a motion graphics piece, and hopefully it'll look like video when I apply post-processing effects.

In this case the reference material would be pictures of you. We can't give a decent level of feedback on the model, without any reference to compare it with. In order to get any worthwhile crits you'll need to post a photo of your face.

You should also use a lighter coloured background to show off your mesh, as black tends to hide the silhouette. It would also be helpful, if you could provide a wireframe shot of the mesh.
