I was doing the Joan of Arc tutorial and when I applied the face.gif bitmap to my plane, I wasn't able to view it!. I rendered the image, and of course I saw it, but how can I be able to view the image while I'm modeling the model?

Theres a thread only for that tutorial and help on it, but heres what you must do:
Press M goto the root of your viewport material with the map and click on this button
