Up for a simple Challenge?

It would be interesting to see what settings you all could come up with to hdr light a sphere using Mental ray in Maya, and what quality and performance you can get out of those settings.

Post:

MR global settings
processor
and anything else you considder relevent.

I would love to see how many different approaches and how the quality and speed of renders would vary.

keep the sphere close to the safe area of the 640 x 480 render.

allow the hdri image to be visable in the render.

I just realized I need a place to put my file and renders, on line.
I got a really nice 2 minute 2 second render with blurred reflection and refraction on both a pedistal and the sphere.

I think I need to shorten the render time though.

Its a 3500+ amd 64 athlon (laptop)

Its a desert scene hdr file that lights it I used 16000 photons with accuracy of 200 and 100 samples of fg

Ill post as soon as I get an online account set up.
