Hi,
Im going to do the silver (at least, maybe more IF i have time) challenge. I'm only doing it for fun and experience cause i'm learning maya right now and what would be better than learning than by doing it this way? So i'm gonna do basic objects I think, but i will try to do more complex things further along the way. I've started with one of the most simple ones, the coffee mug. I tried texturing it, and it actually worked but i still need to work on my texture so just a clay version (kind of) with the v-ray beta. Enjoy!
General Information
I'm going with the "Pick and Choose" category, so i will pick my own objects to model.
As i already said, i will be using Maya to model everything. As i'm still learning most of the things that are avaible in maya expect some experimenting with all the tools so i will learn as much as I can.
FINISHED ENTRY 1: Coffee mug

About
Modeling: 15 minutes
Lighting: 10 minutes
Render time: 600x450 beauty render, used GI and v-ray for maya beta, took about 1 minute to render. Beauty render at 1200x1600 (coming up!)
The front, side and top views rendered at 600x450 render time (MR) of a few secs.
Application used: Maya 7
Comments: The model was eventually modelled with curves and then using revolve, but then i wasn't really happy with the result so to have more control i poly modelled it by using bevel. It was quite fun to do, but the next one will probably be a bit more detailed, depends on the time i have.
