Uh, sorry, since it is my first time on the Gallery/Finished Work i forgot to put a correct name for the thread and i think it was deleted :( I hope this time it is correct :P
Anyway, here are the images. Those are low res, at the bottom i´m posting two links to a bigger ones.
I had big troubles with this one because my computer is so slooow right now, and i had to deactivate the full quality for the shag hair. I used the default scanline renderer for the same reason. I´m not happy with it all on the images, that was my first time doing somethinc realistic. Hope you like it and sorry for the inconveniences of posting again. Hi dude :)
First of all, this picture in the whole is
But what I can tell there are a couple of things that could be improved with the model.
His eyes are a bit "stary" compared to the background. If you would put up something of a battle going on around him, then it would explain the expression.
His ear looks weird, like it's been knocked up a bit too many times, and I don't know if that would fit this character, as he's of rang in the army. :)
He is also lighted from the wrong way and is brighter than the background, which makes it look a bit like the Red Alert cut-scenes.
And the "Old photo" effect is a bit weird. If you look at a real old photograph you will notice that the "lines" don't go in a straight line right through the picture, as well as they don't go all over the picture, just at the top, bottom and sides.
If this is supposed to look like an old film instead, disregard above said. I don't know much how that's supposed to look.

The texturing is really good,
I would love to see this guy in colour as well :)
Good choice of character I think, not many people dare to go there.

Hope all this helps in some sort of way.
Take care.

Would a Nazi have a 5 o'clock shadow? I think they would be pretty clean shaven.

Good work dude. My crit is about the expression. It doesn't quite ring true. I think I know what you were after, but its off a little. If he's meant to be furious, then the mouth is nearly right, but should have the upper lip more "snarly", which raises the nostrils a bit. The eyes, if you isolate them , look more like surprise or fear, than anger. Their shape is too round, You can still have them showing a lot of white, but bring the brows down into a furrow, at least a bit. The whole thing is made less dynamic by his rigid body pose as well, which just looks a bit too passive.
Sorry if I sound picky, but these comments are only "finishing touches" on a nice bit of work. Looking forward to seeing more.

Nazis, even on the battlefield, kept themselves clean. It was a disgrace to be dirty...

I like the backgrounds the most... Are they blurred photos or did you do them?

Sorry, just had another look. The top pic works better because you can see white around the top of the eye. He looks more psychotic there :) Try the same on the bottom one too.

Thanks for your replies!

I´m putting some more random images, in color. Those all are not from the finished version. :D The two links are of two VERY big images, so you can see the skin detail better.

I tought on different backgrounds, but honestly, i was a bit bored and didn´t waste too much time looking for some good places. :P I have finished frustrated of this model because of my slooow computer. The same for the old photo/video effect.

frye: i don´t understand that you say about 5 o´clock shadow... sorry, my english is limited :P

The expression on his face was... a test :P but as i said before, i got very bored of long rendering/moving times so i did not wasted so much time on it. Anyway, i´m saving this thread for the future, when i can work again on it more smoothly :)
Also, while in a long rendering night it came to my mind an idea for a shot animated film called "Neverendering Story" :D I think it would be a cool animated short :P

The backgrounds were taken from http://www.planetquake.com/shattered/shine/images/ref/index.htm

Thanks for your replics!!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but his body looks really flat. Good work though!

Take a good look at the haircuts during the WWII, the shaved head was not popular among the germans, especially not the generals and the like.

i really love the coloured versions, gives a nice tune to it.
i hope you'll get a better computer soon, so you can continue on him :D

Being an old infantry medic, I can inform you that gas masks dont work well with an unshaven chin. So I guess soldiers in common try to keep neat, at least the ones who dont like gas...

A soldier with beard? :surprised

hehehe, thanks for your replies :D

The beard at first was just an experiment with the Scatter modifier in Max. I was not happy at all with the results so i moved to shag fur. I have learned a lot doing tests so i think the beard has done its job :D
