Hey all, just brought a Maya 7 scene I had into Maya 8 and rendered it. The Ambient Occlusion looks totally different, almost as if now it's overlapping in the corners. It didn't do this when I rendered it in Maya 7. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

have you tried to delete the old shader and create a new one made in maya 8?

Nope, I'll try that when I get home tonight. Thanks for the suggestion.

ok, I tried replacing it with an identical "mib_amb_occlusion" node created in Maya 8. The render came out exactly the same. Can you guys think of any other possibilities?

Are you using an odd/large "spread" value?

There was a change in the sampling pattern of the AO shader for Maya8 to create a better (properly stratified) sampling. This could affect slightly how the "spread" value behaves on "extreme settings". It should be in the range of 0-1 and rarely be touched from it's default, btw.

spread was 5, Rendering with it set to 1 now
