View Full Version : Zoom to Mouse Position?
Hello, I'm a newbie to Blender but not to 3D applications. There's something I've loved in both 3ds Max and Modo that I'm wondering about in Blender: if you zoom (such as with the mouse wheel), the view zooms in to wherever the mouse arrow is. It gets annoying in blender to have to zoom my view then pan over to the area I wanted to see closely.
I know there's a shortcut key to center the view on the selected object, then you could zoom after that, but it seems to me much more intuitive and fast to be able to put the mouse where you want to go and zoom straight to it. Is there a way to turn that on or some kind of patch?

Don't think it's possible.
What's the problem with hitting "C" and zooming emidiately afterwards? It's nearly just as
quick...?
Also, I prefer another way of focusing. Select something (object in object mode, vertices
in edit mode etc.) and hit ",". The view immediately focusses - and zooms(!) - to fit the
selection. Very convenient.:)

It has been requested several times by several people.
Zoom in/out relative to cursor.
Unfortunately seems that it is not a priority for the Blender development.
Thanks for the responses! Mathias, the comma shortcut doesn't seem to be working (I have version 2.42). I tried the "c" key and that will center the view, so I might just use that.
Hey, I know Python and C++, maybe I'll go ahead and implement that feature myself! That's part of the greatness of Blender :)

It should be keypad comma, and on Windows numlock should be on.
(Btw, is there a way to make win version disregard numlock status, like linux one already does? I use kpComma as delete in most other apps and that need to turn numlock on and off conctantly makes me sick....)
