hmm i think u should up the antialiasing ...
then ... i think u should put some textures on it ... and then it belongs into orbit ;)

Really nice model!!!
You said this was for first model in Maya, but have you used any other 3d app before? I really hope so, this is just too good for being first 3d image ;)

Great modelin and texturing, as for the stars, just use paintFX (maya's greatest tool) and choose from the visor the brush you like, it has a few there for space scenes like that!

or if it's just for a still picture, or a shot with a locked or panning camera you can just composite the stars afterwards. Use any 2d image aviable, there are lots on the net if you don't want to do one of your own. I think NASA has some great pictures.
