View Full Version : Playblast makes windows crash!!!
Tombigbee 08-24-2006, 02:20 PM Hi there i have 2 problems.... and this time its not my drinking ;)
So everytime i do a playblast of this one scene, my computer reboots and goes to the blue screen of death, and then just continues to boots up and you know just reload windows...yada yada yaaa...
So what could be wrong?
okay thats one issue
Then another problem is when i try to render something, it says in the command line, ....rendering frame 0 (for example..) then all of a sudden it says.. rendering completed...
then when i look at the destination folder..there is nothing there.!!! dum dum daaaaa!!!
and then it didnt render anything!!! strange isnt it!
anyone know how to solve it?
thanks

What does the render log say? That should give you a clue as to why your renders are aborting.
As for the BSOD, I could list a 10-page list. Graphics drivers, open applications interfering, etc.

oh no
the render log? it says nothing.thats just the problem
its as if its not doing anything! you mean in the script editor?
well i think there it says loads of things...let me see again..i can copy it and paste it here if you want....
what do you think should i do?
paste it here...are we allowed to?
and the BSOD is annoying...why does it do that

if you're on a windows machine, goto my documents, then maya. There should be a mayaRenderLog.txt there. Go the end and see what it says.
If the file huge, delete it and try to render again. Working with a 300mb txt file in notepad isn't a fun wait.

okay...
so in the render log .txt
does maya keep updating the same text file!
wow...i didnt know that
what i also didnt know, and what i still dont know is where to find that file...
i am looking in my documents, and in maya 7, and i looked through the few folders there..
but i cant find it!
thats strange....
is it maybe ... lost?
i have been trying to locate that file now for so long...
i cant get it...
am i asleep or something..
i will just use the excuse that i am new to maya :)

also, what's the BSOD say as an error? It may be a video card driver error. It maybe a specific codec that Playblast is trying to use that may not be working with your current configuration

Do a search for it on all your local drives; I'm sure it's in there somewhere

phew!
thats it
what ya think?
can anyone help?
i am going to try that render now...
and then i am still suffering with the playblast
what is that dll...
what is that plugin!
i am going to do a search for it and sniff it out
nv4_disp.dll
that's the nvidia video driver causing the BSOD.
try a different driver version (like 77.77 or 84.37) to see if that still occurs.
btw get the drivers from here for XP32 (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=10) and here for XP64 (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=28).
