View Full Version : Mirror me this...Please!
Mahlikus 08-24-2006, 09:36 AM Alright, I have set up this robo arm and have all the kiccies and axis where I need them to make him move right. Question is how do I get this are mirrored to the other side with all the axis in the right spot and what have you. I tried using symmetry object but it combines the mesh and anchors the axis from the original.
Thanks for the help.

Try to make a Copy of the arm an set the scale of the Shoulder_Plate to x=1; y= 1; z= -1

I don't know if it will work, but you can try the old trick where you put a copy of the entire side into a null and then change the scale multiplier of the appropriate (probably X) axis to -1. Then you can usually pull it all back out of the null, and it should be in its mirrored state. Not sure how that will affect all that stuff, but it's worth a try.
EDIT: man, I'm getting beaten even before 6am. I just gotta learn to type faster...

Worked Like a charm with the null. Can't believe it was that easy. Another nugget in the bag of tricks. Thanks you guys!

Just be aware that the negative scale trick reverses all your normals. Might not matter and easy enough to fix if needed.

Thanks for that though all my normals seem to be fine. =)
Now, FINALLY, after way too long, he has hands! I'll post a pic when this render is done.
Thanks again,
