oh yeah, I was really wondering if hair/paintFX was legal? I wouldn't know any other way to come close to doing a brush like this without it.

Sweet, I really dig the metallic texture you've got on there. It almost has a white-wash fence quality about it.

Here's the second model I've made, the X-Acto knife. I thought this was fairly simple but fun, so I went at it.

Wow, I really like what you have going one with your metal shading. Could you explain a little bit about how you set it up. Shading, lighting, ect...
Good job, keep it up.

Sure Mike,
Here's the shading network, it's actually very simple and so is the lighting. The lighting is your basic 3 point lighting system with a quadratic falloff.

lol Anything that involves quadratic can't be simple... Thats a very nice metal shader do you have any idea how to do that in 3Ds Max? Your models are looking great keep it up.

To be honest Noggy, I don't know the first thing about Max, and don't be scared of the quadractic....it's just a setting.

Very nice work on the paint brush. The tacks and the exacto knife seem to be fairly low resolution. As I've said in another thread, using subD surfaces (or nurbs, since you are using Maya) would have allowed more control over the resolution depending on the rendering needs.
