View Full Version : Vehicle: bmw z4
Sevarf2 01-25-2003, 07:09 PM Hi! This is my last work created for my portfolio. It's a composition between a real background and a 3d model (the car :)). Composed in photoshop with some adjustments (hue, saturation, ecc.). The car is modeled in max 4.2 and rendered with brazil. Sorry for bad quality.

Im also working on a bmw z4, however mine is a cobra prototype. I have studied the bmw z4 model quite close for reference and I can say that you have some problems with getting the reflections on there...also check the modeling presicion..
in other words this model is still quite ways before getting there.;)
check this link for some reference.

I see the images of your link and I think in this kind of photos (to show a car or a product) photographers using more lights and "effects" to create a right atmosphere, infact the painting in the outdoor photos of the car seems different compared to indoor photos. I studied as well this car for long time, of course the composition is not perfect but for the illumination I used other similar images (same wather condition, same angolation) to obtain a realistic result.
However thanks for your comment. ;)

looks not bad, nut somehting isnt right...you know what I mean?
like some kind of proporcion seems to be off. Also check your line continuity, some lines look like they are not straight but bumpy.
Or is it a bad quality render?
in case of rendering I dont recomend using brazil, its just waay o slow...and so what it does have a car paint shader...Still, I use vray and thats good enought.
Try setting up the reflections on the car, like hdri or shdri...

Dmitry: ok, I'll try to use vray an a different car paint.
iller03: thanks
;)
One of the biggest things that jumps out at me is that your seams arent matching up.
Id say the overall model looks good but the seam details are bringing it way down.

Not BAD, but for brazil you could have a much better paint material on there with more realistic reflections. You prolly should not just stick it on that BG, cuz none of the BG is reflected in the car.
