View Full Version : I am buying a new computer

Hi all. I will buy a new computer and i can not decide which system to buy. I will be using cumputer mostly for modeling in maya and some gameing. I will not OC.

Here are 2 systems. If you have any suggestions, please say it.

AMD:

Gigabyte GeForce 7600GT 256MB
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
Chieftec LBX-00-B-B-B
ND-4571A Labelflash™
Athlon X2 3800+
2GB RAM
Western Digital 320GB 16MB SATA2

INTEL:

Gigabyte GeForce 7600GT 256MB
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4
Chieftec LBX-00-B-B-B
ND-4571A Labelflash™
Core 2 Duo E6300
1GB RAM
Western Digital 320GB 16MB SATA2

Intel. Get the E6600 if you can afford it.

2GB is good. Specify the fastest memory you can afford.

For an equivalent performance to that core 2 duo, I think you should be looking at an Athlon X2 4600+ system.

Id maybe go for the intel setup, you can always upgrade to a better cpu as the prices drop.

@RiKToR: That is true. But, amd could put out a new cpu at reasonable price...

The Intel. RAM is easy to add & not too expensive. If you start with 1GB, add a single 1GB stick, not 2*512. Although you won't have dual-channel, it will be much better when you get round to adding 1GB.
If going the AMD, the 4200 X2 is the best value I think.
