hi..

i bought a dual opteron 275 workstation
it has a seasonic s12 power supply
proc fans came boxed
a quadro 350 card
and some other stuff

thing is, it makes an awful lot of noise..ever heard a mac do the ferrari-boot up vroom.
similar to that but it never winds down..or actually, more like when those g5:s goes haywire and you think it's going to explode because the fans just keep
winding up..like a leafblower.

the seasonic manual sais "ultra silent fan" ..um

maybe the proc fans should be replaced..but from what i can tell, it's the power supply..

any ideas..

should say that it arrived doa ,freight damage - power supply was punched in about half a cm.. so i returned it..no problems, i got everything new from the store and the delivery service took all the costs..but i dont know..something tells it shouldnt be making this much noise..

Have a hunt around on the net for information on your parts, any good e-tailer will have the specs of the fans with how many decibels, anything above 25ish is going to be rather noisey. Though you won`t find many cpu hsf lower than 20. You should really be able to hear if the noise is coming from the PSU... typicaly PSU fans are not noisey so it does sound like something could be wrong with it, if it is that.
