Hi there.

I'm really getting depressed on this one, and thought it was the right time to ask for some feedback on it here, after of struggling all by myself for a lot of time.

Ok, so I am using Disney's Tarzan - Jane voice as the sample to animate this girl i made, in order to learn animation. I tried not too look much into the original version of this voice sample and tried to make a bit of a new acting for her(still i looked at jane a bit). I was trying to make the girl shy, a bit sad when she says the boats are coming(as it is the end of their lives as they know it) and also, at the same time fairly happy.

My main problems are the lower teeth. I've searched a lot, studied a lot, anatomy, movie references etc, even here on cgtalk asked for some help on this ,but i cant get it right for some reason. We always see the Molar teeth on her while she's talking. looks really weird. maybe it has got something to do with the lips form when they open. I dunno. I hope you guys can give a look into it and gimme some help.

Also, her eyes acting and head movements look a bit odd.
hope you guys can help me make this better!

Just to finish, I'm using 3dsmax, And as main reading reference I'm using Jason Osipa's StopStaring.

Thank you for reading my post! cheers

I'm just a starter myself but I guess if you're starting with animation it's not really a good idea to start with just the face, let alone a realistic face. Animating a realistic face is hard because humans tend to see every little mistake because they look at real human faces a lot.

Maybe you should start with stuff like ball-characters or lowmax. Just exaggerate things and experiment with stuff.

and the next thing is that you are working with 16 seconds dialog... maybe better start with something shorter?
anyway the first few seconds isnt good but after that timing is better and looks good.
you need more poses anyway for lips

Thanks for repplying. It's not like I am learning animation from Scratch, just trying to improve my animation quality(i've made a mistake on my first post sorry, shoulv'e said improve rather than learn), and the way the morph targets blend into each other. The rig i've built for this is pretty similar to lowmax(only discovered it after i've rigged this), following jason osipa's guides as well some of paul neil's.

Harregarre-"Animating a realistic face is hard because humans tend to see every little mistake because they look at real human faces a lot." - I know, but still I wanna do it to see if I can make something good.

nakimushi- "anyway the first few seconds isnt good but after that timing is better and looks good."

Thanks! Can you please tell me what is wrong exacly so I can try to fix it?

A friend of myne who's also a Cg professional reminded me that maybe i shouldnt have used a cartoon as voice reference. I should have used a live action voice so i could look into the real voice actor and try to match it with the live action. Maybe it's not a bad idea.
Still I have to try to fix that mouth shape when it's opened..

If anyone has acting suggestions please fill me in.
