View Full Version : Creating realsitic visible "cold breath"
vislaw 08-22-2006, 04:27 PM Hope this is an appropriate place to post this. I need to create the effect of an actor's breath being visible in a cold room. The shot will be medium close to close so the effect needs to be very realistic. My first thought was to work up a 2D particle effect but then I began wondering whether it would be easier to key some actual cigarette smoke or something for a composite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, just film yourselves in a cold room over a black background breathing into the air.

Cold breath? You realise you see the breath because it is infact warm?
