View Full Version : orientation problem because of position costraint

Ok,

I had to rig a four legged character with the Biped feature in max. My default pose (as seen in the image) has bones from the top spine downwards with an IK in them. The IK chain is linked to a helper/ controller. I want the position of this controller to take an average of the rear calf bone and the front calf bone. If I give a position constraint, rotating the root (Bip01) in the local Z axis orients this controller very weirdly.

Please gimme a solution for this, I have also uploaded the .fig with this.

Thanks,
Vikram

If you have the helper point constrained to both calves, then to make sure it rotates properly with the setup just parent it to something. Like a spine bone.

I did try that. Gives me a double transformation.

Thanks,
Vikram
