View Full Version : find Triangles in maya
JulianS 08-21-2006, 10:31 PM Does anyone knows a mel that can find triangles in a mesh.
The cleanup tool will only show you 4-sided faces or faces with more than 4 sides,
but how about 3-sides faces.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
switch the faces of your model,
go under Edit Polygons>Selection>POlygon Selection Constraint
Check order to triangles
and change the constrain option to all and next
hit close and remember
after you finish your work you have to come back this manu end reset it from the reset menu on left top...
cheerss...

Thank you merterkin
You just show me a whole new command polySelectConstraint.
Now all i need to do is make a quick and dirty mel script with GUI to select triangles.
You rock as much as polySelectConstraint :buttrock:

another way to do it, is to go to polygon/polygon cleanup options/ and in new window
select geometry for operation type, and check 4-sided faces....apply
then simply invert selection
this tool is pretty good for other things, like checking for non manifold geo and 5 sided faces
cheers
