I'm interested in determining the best way to animate a tshirt on my character. I only have Maya Complete, and to be honest, I'm not much interested in using Cloth even if I DID have Unlimited. I just want to find a way to animate a t-shirt without having the shirt look like it's skin tight.

If someone can give clues, or links to a tutorial, that explains:

1. What key wrinkles should I attempt to add?
2. How can I get them to wrinkle correctly.

Your help is appreciated, -=STZ=-

hi,
try to use softbodies with springs, you can use the softbodies on a low mesh, then use this low mesh like a wrap deformer to deforme your high resolution mesh...

Thanks Olivier,

I'm not familiar with Softbodies, so I'll look into them. I'm not looking for anything fancy, and I definitely don't expect it to look like AW's Cloth. I'm just trying to figure out how to give my t-shirt a bit of volume.

For example, If my character where to hold his arm out, perpendicular to his body, a t-shirt's sleeve would hang open under his arm (in his armpit area). Now to reproduce that realistically would require something like AW's cloth. But is there anyway to visually mimic it? Is there any way to leave some space between your characters bicep and the sleeve, or do I have to make the sleeve skin tight? I'd like the shirt to have maybe 3-4 wrinkles, and hang open in his armpit area, but leaving his armpit open has me stumped.

I'll look at softbodies and see if they can help.

Thank you,

if you need only few wrinkles, you can try to use wire deformer with blendshape and setdriven key with the rotation of your arms.
