Assassin Animation (Aprrox: 2.5Mb) (http://www.3dluvr.com/davewilson/Assassin.avi)

Did this ages ago, was just a little animation test I did,
I hardly ever get time to animate the stuff I build, so
just having a little fun here... wasn't going to post it
but I thought why not.

I was never really satisfied with the texture of the
Assassin himself, I am thinking of changing it to that
metal that the Super Battle Droids had in EpII. Anyway....

Enjoy, it's a little dark so turn that monitor up ;)
Encoded using DivX (5 I think).

There's some stills of the environment and The Assassin
on my website too www.3dluvr.com/davewilson (http://www.3dluvr.com/davewilson)

Also some model shots in a thread here....

Cheers, Dave.

The textures on the assasin are just fine. If anything you may want to add some damage and scratches to the texture. The animation, however, needs a lot of work:

Number one, his feet float. These days its just not acceptable at all. Look into getting a good foot rig on him so his feet stick to the floor.

When he lands, I see no secondary/follow through movement on him at all. His arms shouldnt remain stiff as he lands, especially with the obvious force of the landing. His head is also stiff on the landing, and towards the end of the animation its too floaty.

I also dont like the lack of weight he shows when he grabs the staff from his back. His torso shoud twist along the Y (up) axis as he reaches back. I DO however like the hold before he strikes, and the animation as he strike the camera.

In short: Great Model, Great environment, and unfortunately, Sub-par animation which brings down the overall quality of the piece. Not all model/texture artists can animate, just as not all animators can model. I would suggest that you really overhaul the animation, or colaborate with an animator you like. If you do, this would be an INCREDIBLE piece.

Heh Heh, thanks Mike, you kinda hit the nail on the head there, and thanks also for the awesome feedback, like I said I don't get much time to animated, specially do character stuff.

I pretty much model and texture ALL the time and have little time for anything else ;) So you really did get that one right!

Thanks for the awesome feedback though!

I think the scene is very cool... nice size to view as well. I agree that the assassin could do with different textures cause it seems very flat at the minute.

Maybe its just me, but it doesnt move much like my idea of an assassin though? Looks good tho... maybe time for a revised anim? ;)
