View Full Version : import eps
Hey all-
Just a beginner here, but i have read a few areas of books i have about importing eps files into Maya. Every time I import I am getting nothing coming in. Are there some setting of the eps that I need to change to make this work? I've tried different previews of the eps, but with no results. Does someone have some help for me? I downloaded a eps from http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/Community/Learn/how_tos/modeling/import_eps/
and it worked fine...just wondering what the sensitive part of the settings are? Thanks for any help I can get.

if you export eps files from illustrator 8, when you save them you get the option to save for earlyr versions of illustrator, make sure you save it for illustrator 5 and it will come through ok..
if you not using illustrator....then i dont know
:surprised
Mushroom God-
thanks for the help...just wanted to say that i visited your website and checked out your gallery...very nice work. The one thing that stands out in your stuff if the lighting...very nice!
Any hints for a beginner on what you do to get such nice lighting?

thanks drj,
glad you like my stuff :)
as for anytips....
well, all my stuff (with the exeption of the honda) is a basic 3-point light setup (no gi). I normaly work with coloured lights also, i think that adding a bit of colour helps add mood + alot of people dont do it so it kinda helps make your work stand out a bit more.
A few people thought my alienbob character was rendered using GI but was infact rendered using about 4-5 lights....alot of the tone that i think fooled a few people into thinking it was GI was painted on in the textures, adding some darkness where objects meet etc helps add form.......im not sure what other people would say but i think texturing and lighting are pretty much the same thing.
i probubly spend just as much time modeling somthing as i do lighting and texturing
if you need any tips about lighting (not using GI) then heres a good link for ya.....+ theres a good tut on 3 point lighting

hope thats all usfull:thumbsup:
