View Full Version : reflections thourgh refractions, how?

Look at the picture, theres a checkerboard background, a reflective sphere (slightli squashed) and something like a Glass, with refractions set to 1.1.

Now there are no more Reflections through the glass!
I tried cranking up the "Reflections and Refractions" to 20 and "Max Trace Depth" to 40, still no go.

Is this not possible in mental ray?

I don't even need physical correct reflections, It could be "non refracted reflections", if you know what I mean.

I'm guessing you've checked this, but if you;re using maya shader nodes, have you upped the reflection limit in the raytracing rollout?
