View Full Version : Transformers Writers reveal bot-cast
NRG-Alpha 08-19-2006, 09:52 PM Over at rottentomatoes.com, the writers apparently revealed to Yahoo! a list containing some of the autobots and decepticons that we can expect to see appear in the July 4th 2007 movie.
It is not clear however, if there will be any additions or changes.

No mention of SoundWave. Too bad, as SoundWave was cool.
On the bright side, StarScream made the cut :)
Cheers,

I guess they're going for that "Against all odds" plot aye? 5 Autobots Vs 8 Decepticons... right... as if they have any chance of winning.
That "story will be told through the eyes of its human characters" doesn't sound too promising either. Humans in Transformers cartoon has always taken the backseat IIRC, but then again, I haven't seen them in years.

I think Michael Bay is attempting a War of the Worlds (Steven Steilburg edition) with what he thinks is a family freindly concept. He never was a fan of the original series, he states that himself, he didn't like the original concept of the show, but wanted to do something more family freindly, and by that meaning, something that parents will let their kids watch (the american auidence doesn't care so much about violence as it does about sex so it seems, and seeing as we're dealing with robots, theres no opertunities for that obviously). In essense, Bay liked a script, called Transformers and about giant robots that turn into cars, but didn't really care where the idea came from. From what we can see there will be lots of "tourist" dealings between the people at hoover dam and the military operation and this can only mean one thing, kids sneaking into a military base without being noticed long enough for them to see the big secret, the same premise as a load of sci-fi horror films, but it's funny, because it's a big yellow car robot. Camaros, Pimped out Semis, Pimped out tanks, top of the line military hardware... it seems to take alot of the disguise out of robots in disguise. In the original series, most of them were just posing as normal cars, and while I can see the reasons with the bubblebee change to something else to a beatle (VW arguments) did it have to be changed into a Camaro. Did Optimus have to become a pimped out truck, and why does that tank look so rediculously evil.
