Well, I think that it is impossible to see what's going on on your image, because the link that you gave us goes to a tiny image that it's resized badly, by the fact.
Here, host the image for free (www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us)) and post here on the forums.

It looks good, but we need to see a larger version for the details. =)

Her ribs look like fish ribs, a very nice subtlety that I haven't seen used before on mermaids.
The guys could be brought out more. Their dark shirts make them really fall into the background. The lighting seems a bit unnatural, like there's a fluorescent light nearby. It's hard to make out what environment their in. I would say outside on some rocks near the water, so I'd think the light would be coming from something more like a camp fire, which would be warmer.
Not sure what that pipe knee looking thing in the middle right under the mermaid is either.
The pose of the guy holding the harpoon is a bit unclear. His arm doesn't seem back enough to stab her, but he's clearly threatening her with it, but then his eyes aren't even on it, or where he might stab her with it, or looking at her (at least one isn't) in a threatening way to reinforce the threatening posturing with the harpoon. It's almost like he's forgetting he's holding it to her.
The mermaid herself is quite beautiful and her expression is very emotive. It's quite a tragic piece. The colors are great. I'm sure as you have time to work on the rest of the painting as much as you've worked on the mermaid it will all be really great.

I like it very much. The scales texture is gorgeous.
On your latest update though, I don't like the glow on the flask. It seems to me you used the filter glow, which you should avoid at all costs. With some exceptions, you should always try to paint your special effects with the brush tool for an authentic painting style that matches the rest of your canvas.
