Hey peeps,

Here's an animation I did for a challenge over at simplycg.net, as well as this month's 10second club.

Pretty straight forward....rendered with VRay and animated using Peter Starostin's new LowMax rig :)

Hope you enjoy!

Tyson,
Do you ever sleep? what is your secret man? PM me with an answer, I need it too... ;)

Nice one, your cameras/lighting/animation impress me every time.
I do think his left hand is abit floaty at "....the door is open...." I cant really read/understand the movement and its posing, the rest is great! I like the way he acts it as if it was a spell, it adds to the drama.

Hi Ivan, another great piece!, what program did you use to create the flames? keep up the good work - Adam

Hey Punto,

Cheers for stopping by mate. The flame was done in max. Glow was added afterwards using After Effects :)

Hey Ranimate,

Thanks man :)...as for the hand. I know...there's something I keep thinking is slightly awkward about that motion too. I tried experimenting this time with more subteler hand movements and I think I may have gone a little overboard ;)

hey tyson,
first of all, lemme just say that this is some awesome work!! youve got some great lipsync and the minute details in the face really work great.

i think the only thing that feels unnatural is when he puts his hand across his face to lift his glasses. your peice works fine with it, its not at all nessasary to change it- its just the one thing i noticed.

keep it up! :D

aw man that was AWSOME, im a big fan of your work! Keep it up! I agree with learntolive its a bit odd when he lifts the glasses, im not sure just seems a little heavy? if that makes sense?

i wish the maya lowman rig looked as cool as that one :( heh. I was wondering on your other animation clips (on your site) what kind of light set up do you use?

yeah yeah - my name is Tyson and I can animate, and model, and do effects, and render and composit..and.....an..a....

hehe - nice work Tyson. Once again.

you have already heard the other critiques. My only input would be that maybe we should see some other heiroglyphics or something so we know what he is looking at throughout the shot.
Its obvious at the end with the snake, but before that its not clear. So if this were from a movie, the audience would need to know what he was talking about or else it would seem funny. Just my 2 cents and I could be way off my knocker.

Good one again -

Wow, thats great, i've been trying to do stuff with Maya like that. Have you ever thought about making a tutorial on this. If you ever do i can upload it to a bittorrent to make it easyier for everyone to download.

Great work. also do you have a link to the lowman version you use, i can only find the older one, and not the model you seem to be using.

Nice one tyson. Have to mention also the hand is way too busy during the animation , I think it would look better if you simplify it.

Yes nice work again Tyson. Though i'm going to disagree with the hand being too complex, I actually think that's the best part of the animation. I think though that the rest is maybe too simple and that's why the focus is drawn to it away from the face.

Thank you Tyson, maybe you don't know how this stuff is important for who is trying to learn the art of animation... these blasts are great to learn the pipeline of a shot!! A blast sometimes says more than a completed scene. I hope this scene will win the august challenge at 10secondclub, you deserve it! Are the links to these blasts posted on SimplyCG? I dunno if I missed it, anyway, I think you should post them, they're veeeery interesting! Thanks again

Hey man it's the lowmax rig by Peter Starostin.

I have links to it in several of my threads.

Hey man it's the lowmax rig by Peter Starostin...

but it isn't same, peter have less details... maybe the ring is, but not the model.

I'm telling ya mate....everything is the same...rig AND model :)

Maybe you're looking for the wrong version of the rig? I'm using the 0.3 version by Pete.

Nice one tyson. Have to mention also the hand is way too busy during the animation , I think it would look better if you simplify it.

I would tend to agree. The floaty, non-descript look is appropriate but the reason i think it doesnt work is because its very even in the timing and directness. The gestures are nondescript. it would give it more punch if some gestures were more direct and intentional,... I guess the same could be said about the head gestures. Throw in some contrast, just a touch. a little shake of the head as he's reading the wall.. a little wide eyed look in the accents...things like that.

All in all, it looks good.

:deal: Dude you need to read my posts.

I mentioned that possibly you were searching for the wrong version (which based on your screenshot, you are....that's the old version) and that I am using version 0.3 (which is still made by Peter Starostin, it's just the updated version). I also mentioned that I've linked to in some of my recent threads. :bounce:
