Wow, his is beautiful. I love the texturing. Do you have some weapons for him?

Oooh, very nice indeed! What game's do you use it in? I love the textures, it has a perfect feel of age. a darn site better texture
than I could do for sure!

If you want some constructive critisism from a bit of a 40k player, might you shrink the backpack a little. It overpowers the rest of the model, and I'm pretty sure hangs too far down.

Also, is it possible to correct the shoulder pad movement so it doesn't cut into the body. I've often pondered on how to do this myself, but haven't actually got around to trying anything.

I think for 5,000 polygons you could have some more detail on him, or you could try and reduce some of them.

Just a thought tho.

Texture is real nice.

Hyper: Very nice! I especially love the skinning, which programm did you use? Did you use mouse or a graphic tablet?
I myself do a lot of skinning, too and I know that something like this is a very hard work. How long did you need?

I think I should be able to answer this...
He uses 3ds max for 3d
photoshop for skinning
he uses a tablet...not sure about that one though
I think I saw a post by him at skindom.com when he started working on the model, and that's quite sometime ago, but he's prolly been busy at christmas and stuff...
Sorry hyper, for trying to answer the question, just felt a bit bored...uhm...ya...

WOo, thanks guys..
(gunna say it here so i dont haveto say it every time i respond, THANKS!:))

blackwulf360: Nope, no weapons yet, great idea tho, i think you can re-scale the weapon bone in ut2003 and stuff hide it somewhere
but that would require some extra extra work i may not be willing to do
hehe

The Commander: Ut2003, Hmmm, backpack, yea, you may be right about that.. ill look into it if i plan on re physiquing it..
And yea, im sure there are many ways to prevent the shoulder pad issue, i just used some default animations for ut2003, but if i were to have started totaly fresh i would have had a bone spacificly for the pads for secondary movement (bouncing etc as he runs) and definately to prevent issues with the clipping.

James Deschenes: yea, some of the polys are in aid of the lack of smoothing in the ut2003 mesh exporter, but epic seems to have fixed that
other than that it was just a 10 hour practice model with very little low-polyness in general.. i admit, near 6000 is alot, and with a shader its actualy 12k, very minimal preformance hit ingame tho suprisingly, but still i dont reccomend 12k for serious attempts! :) i also kept detail minimal for the sake of skinning, for example, i have the option of skinning the chest like any of the 5+ variation chest designs of warhammer figures.. shoulders too, everything infact, if i took the headdress off and modified the backpack, it could be any chapter of space marines with any design variation and whatnot, i may do that infact :)
im planning atleast 2 or 3 good variations, so its a team of thousand sons atleast

Anders G: YOOT, :D iv actualy had him rigged for a long time, right after the skinmap it was the first thing i did
had him ingame for..... sheesh, a long time now! :).. hehe, its private tho for now, untill i get more skin variations done and maybe even re-export him with proper smoothing.. shaders and all too! its so fun :D
New stuff? hmmmmm, well, i showed some stuff on eat poo, but thats all 2d stuff, hmmm, i spose i could show some new stuff.. for now ill just chuck this other warhammer 40k model i did in here :)

http://www.coronaleonis.com/images/fabius.jpg

Seen this anders? :)
iv realy been doing way more 2d these days than 3d, thankfully ill be doing alot more 3d soon with some personal projects that have cropped up...

CgMonkey: i proudly wear the title "ass" in this case then :) thanks tho, im glad you and the other guys here dig it.

B-holm: :) good to hear it.. but this is actualy one of my wierder ones, doesnt show what i can realy do these days ;)

Chappo: Cool, touched a nostalgia nerve? :) i heard the same sort of thing from a few coders i know too.

cANt: yezzzz, i use Photoshop to skin (5.5 still) and yes, tablet yes, yablet.. MMMmmm, hmm, the skin was like a week or 2 atleast, i had alot of stuff going on work wise, so it was realy on hold.. takes a week to two weeks to do a good huge skin for work stuff too.. btw, i only used one overlay on the whole thing, the area where the paint is chipped away is the only spot i used one, the rest is hand painted :)

NileshXYZ: which game art comp?!? :O

B-holm: YEW AZZHOLE! YOUR AAAWRONG>.!!!!!2..
err, hehe, yea, but yea! yea.. max, PS and tablet, yew bored, go play tango!

Boone: that would be the frigging best, i actualy know the guy in charge of magazine stuff i think.. he may not be anymore, but he was last time i checked, heh, i could see about suggesting it.

Anders G string: dont listen to that anders GUY! he spins too hard and causes yawn

again, TANKS yALL

I think its about time GW incorperated CG into its line. I for one would love to make a CG-Short based on warhammer - just take a look at the intro for "Rites of War". And its still art...

"Let him know who you serve!" sounds so cool!

Love the design.. but (there allways is a but ):p

The legs seems a bit thin. if the marine didnt have the suit on the scale would proberly fit. Any way I know that you said you didnt want to do more work on the model but that truely would be a shame :shame: :p

SO GET BACK TO WORK :wip:

Exile Films (http://www.exile-films.com/) was working on a Bloodquest movie for awhile, but i think it got shelved.

If you dig through their site you should be able to find some cool shots of the assets they'd created.

I think the most successful interactive GW license is going to be the upcoming Tau Fire Warrior (http://www.firewarrior.com/) game that Kuju's developing. They went the right rout and avoided the Turn-based Strategy pigeon-hole.
