I'm looking forward to seeing how many remixes of the prototypical fantasy battlements-on-a-massive-floating-chunk-of-rock idea :D
I guess I could do a moody executive looking out of a skyscraper window...President Shinra!
Nah - I want to draw the big chunk of rock :D

Really wish I had the time to work on it more. Figured I'd go ahead and post this. I rather like it, might go back and enlarge/finish it at some point.

Photoshop+tablet, no idea of the time, maybe 30 mins
This is an Altocumulus Castellanus. For those who don't know about clouds, the altocumulus castellanus has this name because the wind has sculpted the cloud in such a way that it looks like it has towers, making it look like a... Castle.
I'd like to do another entry for this theme, but I'm leaving tomorrow for a week, I might not have the time to post it before the voting starts.
Nice entries everyone though. So far I especially like daw's.
*Power to the clouds!!!*

Wow - what a fantastic thread - pretty much every piece here is great!
Daw, barring any forthcoming bursts of genius from you or anyone else over the next few days, you are safely guaranteed my vote for SOTW on this one.
Brittany, in my very humble opinion that's your best DSG submission (that I've seen, anyway). It's got the best elements of your style nicely wrapped up in one image...stylin'!
Hopefully I can find time to participate in this one...I've gotten wrapped up in one of those rare pieces of artwork that I think I might actually be inclined to finish (I've spent the past few hours completely overworking pointless things; I should leave it alone for a couple of days and come back to it, but I'm slightly hooked - this is already turning into an all-nighter). I did spend a few minutes on a submission earlier on but I got depressed with the result very quickly...luckily I got interrupted (my rottweiler has learnt to leap over impossibly high walls, clever thing, so I had to keep it away from some horses :D) because the standard is so high today.
Keep up the good work folks!

great job all..
Heres mine quick sketch.. Photoshop CS2/1 hour.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d76/Dekus/sky_castle__scaled.jpg
It took around 2hour and 40 mins PhotoshopCS ,All painted from scratch with my Tevion-tablet with a really annoying pen that seems to have a life of its own! it went nuts a few times, i better upgrade soon. :)
I liked making up the design of the Castle.
Great idea for a title for Daily Sketch
I would like to spend more time on this, i will polish its up soon, but for now its my Castle in the Sky.
I hope you guys like it .
all crits and comments wellcome :)

Wow, awesome work in this thread. Always fills my head with new ideas. A tip of the hat to each of you.
I decided to draw one with my Wacom, haven't quite gotten the hang of it but need to. I disliked the results and so decided to make the whole island crash and burn - the digital equivalent of crumbling the paper. :) About 90 minutes in Photoshop.

Hey Digital, what's rude about mine? LOL I thought about it as I looked at it and thought maybe it was a bit phallic. But I can't help that - since it was from a photo ref.
Men are always designing phallic symbols everywhere, they are obsessed with them. ;)
