View Full Version : Wings took down my computer.
John Keates 01-25-2003, 12:11 AM I realy want to try wigs, especially as it exports to Mdl. files. However, when I tried it, it took my computer down (500 meg winXP Via chipset, AMD 2400). This has also happened with Maya PLE and Houdini apprentice. The whole computer went down and I had to restart by unplugging (I waited for an hour and gave up).
I am obviously reluctant to try wings again without some input.
Please help.:surprised :annoyed: :hmm:

I would immediately suspect your OpenGL setup as both the listed apps depend pretty heavily on opengl.
This could be a sever bug in your OpenGL drivers or your videocard may be buggy or damaged.
Try getting the latest manufacturers drivers for your video card and see if that helps the problem.

also try lowering your hardware exceleration if the driver update doesnt do the job
there is an issue with ati and their poor use of opengl

Had similar problem (comp started, crashed when something wanted OpenGl) when bought my new ATI... buying new PSU (400 watt instead of 230 ) helped for me, these new graphics cards are veryy power-hungry:annoyed:
