I'm new to CGtalk, and have decided to take a try at this challenge ;}

...for the third time of having to re-write this ...

Prelim sketches for the Saret..

This is the saret. They are large creatures about 12-15 feet tall, very strong and tend to live for a good many years. Intelligent creatures, they speak several different languages allowing them to communicate with other creatures and people. They live primarily in the Fangorn forest.

all comments are appreciated!

I am now pushing this more to a character type. I changed my idea to the Lupibok. ;}

::info::
Antelope and wolven features, bipedal, semi-magical creatures. Mainly known for their healing abilities using herbs and medical smarts.
Lupibok live somewhat solitary lives, grouping only for spiritual events. At a young age the Boks have a ritual of adulthood, and are basicaly set out onto their own to learn magic, languages, and any number of things from People, and other creatures.

Proficient with bows, trap setting, tracking (sight, smell, sound). Boks are Omnivores.

Basically, they are a type of Ranger.

Good pic you have here.....

but I dunno about the pose....

What about some 'acting'? Looking to your old concepts, I see that you you know 'how to pose'... but in this last picture, you only gave it's a standing pose, no action....

I feel better with some 'movement'.. but it's my opinnion.

Besides, you can give it a better lightning treatment.
Shadows, volume, these kinda of good things, ya know?

It looks too 2d for me

[edit]
hope you read these oppinions as suggestions, not critics.

Well this was a concept sketch of the character...when I poested it no one came back <:P So I wasn't sure what kinds of things people would have liked to see from it, and I have a few general Ideas, but some others would have helped.

I wouldn't have asked for opinions and ideas if I didn't want them ;)

I do have the same problem with anwers, like to see them coming, but people here proved I was wrong.

Answers won't make you happy or fell better

Make your job. If something doesn't fit at all, people here will tell you

Keep up
Try to change the pose as I said, maibe works better.

I agree...I think the second creature is a bit more original as far as the concept is concerned, but you had some more dynamic poses going in the first batch of sketches. Give that second concept a better pose and I think you'll have a good image. :thumbsup:
