Title: Shoot and Kill
Name: yuan tian
Country: China
Software: 3ds max

the mustang was shooting at that poor FW190A8,she had no way to run ...
it was very common scene druing late ww2 period.the luftwaffe collapsed with her past glory .
I modeled them through rhino and rendered through mentalray.

Very nice scene. Nice composition.

My only crit is that there are too many shells falling compared to the number of bullets fired. Also the plane is travelling quite fast, a bit too fast for the shells to be falling in such an abrupt downwards direction, but then the perspective might be warping my judgement, never mind that last crit.

A definite 4 stars from me:thumbsup:

i like the image and the style, only slight crit i wud have is that the mustang seems to be a bit too shiny, nice work overall tho.

The sky in your scene is almost cloudless yet the lighting looks like an overcast one. Get a decision, you'd either have to make a cloudy/hazy sky or you need a bright sunlight with crisp shadows.

Hi there....
Phantastic work!
I love the dynamic
way of the piture!

The modeling, the
textures and the
lighting are stunning!

The pic looks like right
out of an aircombat
movie!

5 stars from me...
Simply phantastic!

A couple of things stand out here and stop the image from being great.

Firstly the smoke etc, it looks way too procedural, you'd do better to not let your 3d app handle that and instead make the smoke effects in post. There's nothing stopping you makeing them on a seperate pass in your 3d app if you wish then compositing together afterwards (this will allow you to experiment and push them further), but you really have to push your control and abilities with them if that's the case because right now they don't look good at all, so it may just be easier for you to paint them in instead.

The other thing that spoils it for me is the shell casings, at the moment they break up the form and don't quite look intentional. I'm sure this thing fired at a real rate of knots, however that many casings sitting there at this speed? Maybe reduce the count a bit. The other problem with them there static is that it destroys a lot of the sense of motion, with the planes you don't need motion blur but with the casings you probably should add it, it'll help tone them down as well as stop them making it look like the planes are parked in mid air. You may also wish to lighten them slightly, have some of the reflect the sunlight as they're falling (which will help the dynamic a little).

Good luck!

Nice pic and the metal shader is very nice. My only crit that has not been seen before is that there is absolutly no control surface deflection. I always put some of that in an airplane image. Will add to the drama a bit too. Does mean you might have to cut up your model a bit though. Probably that and cut the shell casings in half and you got something great.

Very nice work! I like how you get a feeling that the pannels are separate, rather then just lines painted on. Maybe where the sun hits the FW it could be a bit brighter, to have more contrast. Something people should keep in mind is that those are the tracers you see, not the actual bullets, there are many more bullets than tracers coming out. Still, having the casings trail back more might be a good idea. Also, the blue part seems a bit dull, or is the paint on that matte? Now lets see this animated :D

I really like this picture. Ive never seen anyone actually add the shells but I like it alot more w/ them. One guy said there were toomany shells to how many bullets were fired, but I guess he didnt know that there's a tracer per every 5 shots fired. Its cool though, great work man!http://forums.cgsociety.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=3998417#
