View Full Version : Eyebrows and blur
ThirdEye 01-24-2003, 08:06 PM I need to blur the brand new polygonal eyebrows of my 2nd head(hair dptm) because they appear too "solid". How can i blur em?

vertex map instead of poly map will soften them
use dirtynuts vertexmap in the alpha of the eyebrow material laid on top of the other materials.

mmm this is not completely clear but i will try playing with dirtynuts, thanks Per :)

ok teh way it works is this, just create a vertex map (i would simple make a selection of the points that have to be fully dark, then use the set vertex weight command to set those points at 100% or however harsh you want them to be). then name the vertex map something like "eyebrows" once you've done that you need to add dirtynuts vertexmap shader to the alpha channel of the material you're applying as the eyebrows material over the top of the skin texture. edit the dirtynuts vertexmap and there should be a box to type in the name of the vertex map that it uses. then away you go :) good luck

i'm not sure if you understood that my eyebrows are not painted but build up poly by poly on a separate object... it's really painful to make a vertex map on this

ok to just make them softer simply add a single color into the alpha channel, or maybe a turbulent texture in there that hsould break them up.
if theyr'e splines, then i would suggest using the scaling parameter in the sweepnurbs object to make them grow thinner, or use a v gradient in the texture in the alpha.
