how do you know where the colors are going to be? Like when you are skinning a face, how do you know where to draw the eyes? Plese help :D

Edit: I use 3dsmax7

Did you actually read Leigh's article?? dont undertsand how that didnt answer your question

If you are painting a colour map then you will first have to lay out the UVs for your model. This gives you a flattened wire frame of your model. You then use the UV layout as a guide to paint over
