3D.ream 08-17-2006, 03:15 AM Hi everyone. I'm Trying to learn lots of things about simulations in XSI, from basics to advanced but i can't find any material like books or dvd's about this. If somebody knows about this or another specific topics material in XSI and where i can find it i really apreciate it. Thank you.

Thank you, this really will help about particles. I'm still looking for more about soft and rigid bodies(i only found it in www.digitaltutors.com (http://www.digitaltutors.com) and not bought it yet...), mental ray, render tree; but simulations in general is my priority. There is no much that i've found...

3dquakers has an interactive car rig - created with pre-5.0 rigid bodies. Would still explain rigid constraints and some expressions.

Check out Digital Tutors. They're awesome, I really enjoy the way they've made their training materials, and there are even some free samples online.
Here is the link to the dynamics dvds, but click on the links to the left to see other XSI stuff, as well as other apps.

Highly recomended!
An excellent resource is the XSI Wiki. Lots of simulation stuff on there!

I second the Digital Tutors DVD. I ordered the 7 dvd XSI set, which covers almost everything and the particle DVD was outstanding.

i dont know about digital tutors...
they are very very very basic and i dont recommend them unless you are an utter n00b.
otherwise youll just skip ahead or just skim through the movies.
i had the displeasure of buying the rigging dvd when i was coming from maya, hoping to learn something in riggin in xsi, unfortunately, the guy didnt even set up a proper foot rool.
again, i was just hoping to see the xsi tools in action and when to use in contrast to mayas riggin tools, but these DVDs assume the viewer has not utter previous experience whatso ever or even lacking common sense [the way the guy repeats himself lesson after lesson]

the "XSI-Adv. Character Rigging " series on 3dtutorial is still darn good, even though it's for an older version of xsi. All the basics and more advanced stuff is covered for setting up a complete rig and extra's.
Still -very much- recommended, I learned a lot from it.
I also hear a lot of good stuff about the new rigging vid from 3dquackers too.

and yes, digitaltutors can be a bit too basic if you already have some knowledge about stuff. Not all vids though, don't get me wrong here.
